  • Description: Friday Forum: Mike Moore, Attorney General, State of Mississippi. In 1994, Mr. Moore became the first state attorney general to file suit against the tobacco companies, making Mississippi the first state to insist that cigarette manufacturers reimburse the state for costs it incurred treating smoking-related illnesses. The $4.1 billion settlement was placed into a Health Care Trust Fund to improve the health of the citizens of Mississippi. Mr. Moore remains an outspoken critic of how other states are spending these [tobacco settlement] funds. In partnership with the Cleveland and Cuyahoga County Bar Associations, in celebration of Law Day.
