Description:  In this Green Thumb Club radio broadcast for the Cleveland Public Schools Horticulture program, instructors Mr. Leslie Beamish and Mr. Frank Page explain how second graders can enroll for a home garden. From the program literature:

The purpose of the program is threefold:

  1. To provide youngster an opportunity to develop and explore their interests in plants and gardening.
  2. To give pupils a background of experience to better understand plant science taught in later grades.
  3. To stimulate and interest in enrollment in the Home Garden Projects offered in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades.

This recording is from the "Green Thumb Club" series of radio horticulture lessons, broadcasted by W.B.O.E., 90.3FM for students in the Cleveland Public Schools Horticulture Program in the 1960's through the 1970's. The recordings were donated to Cleveland State University Library by Dr. Peter J. Wotowiec.
