She is recognized for establishing analytic problem solving to study the emerging field of spectroscopy in chemistry. This paved the way for other scientists to apply her methodology to their work in identifying pollution and contaminants in gasoline. She is member of the Ohio Board of Regents and will speak on the topic, 'Women in science and engineering: why so few?'
