Description: Friday Forum: Dr. John Ogbu, Author, Black Students in an Affluent Suburb: A Study of Academic Disengagement. His book focuses on the academic disengagement and relative success, or lack thereof, of African American and other minority students, Dr. Ogbu attempts to answer questions of differences of academic performance between ethnic groups documented by communities nationwide. Dr. Ogbu spent considerable time locally during his eight month study of the Shaker schools.
